Hey there! I’m Axel, though you might know me as haqe. I’m a full-stack designer passionate about solving complex challenges through thoughtful design. Based in Poland, I focus on user-centered, data-informed design to create meaningful products.
Born and raised in Mexico, I completed a degree in design and advertising before diving into user experience in 2014. That year, I led a small team of designers to develop a digital sports magazine for iOS and Android tablets.
That happened a few months after I landed my first job as a designer, and the experience helped me develop strong ownership and leadership skills. In 2016, seeking new adventures, I packed my bags and moved to Poland, where I completed a second degree in international business.
Immersed in an entrepreneurial environment, I developed a product mindset, shifting from marketing-focused design to projects centered around user experience. In 2022, I completed an accredited UX program at CareerFoundry, which significantly improved my experience with user research and marked my transition into a full-time product designer role.
I’ve spent a decade working in the design industry, gaining experience that goes beyond product design. After my first project in 2014, I started freelancing and refining my skills across various design disciplines, including visual design, motion graphics, illustration, branding, and web design.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of companies across various industries, working both independently and as part of larger, cross-functional teams at companies like OANDA, IG Group and Docplanner. Currently, I am partnering with the WFM team at Zendesk.
I'm often asked why Poland. The truth is, there isn't just one reason. Coming from a warm place where snow doesn't exist, I discovered a huge passion for skiing. Despite being relatively new to the sport, I've managed to get pretty good at it.
Whenever I'm back home in Mexico, I make sure to visit the ocean and its colorful reefs. Marine life amazes me, and I'm working towards getting a freediving license so I can travel the world and dive into its wonderful waters.
Oh, and did I mention I'm also a part-time Airbnb Community Lead? I support hosts on Mexico’s Pacific coast in Oaxaca. If you're ever planning a trip to Huatulco, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to offer you a place to stay and ensure you have a memorable time.
